Samsung washers use two-character codes. Newer models show a "C" in the code (4C, 5C, dC), while older models show an "E" (4E, 5E, dE). The meaning is the same. Here is what the most common ones mean.
Common Samsung washer codes
- 4C / 4E – Water supply problem. The washer is not filling. Check that the faucets are open, the hoses are not kinked and the inlet screens are clean.
- 5C / 5E / nd – Drain problem. Clean the debris filter (front-load) and check the drain hose.
- dC / dE / UB – Unbalanced load or door/lid issue on top-loaders. Rearrange the laundry and make sure the lid closes fully.
- UE – Unbalanced load during spin.
- 3C / 3E – Motor error. The motor did not reach the expected speed. Check the motor wiring and the hall sensor; overloads can also trigger it.
- LE / OE – Water level too high or leak detected (varies by model).
- HC / HE – Heating problem: heater or temperature sensor.
- Sud / SUD – Too much detergent foam. Use HE detergent and less of it.
- AE / E3 and similar communication codes – The main board and the display board are not communicating. This often points to a bad board or a damaged harness.
Signs the control board is bad
- The washer has power but nothing responds.
- Communication errors between the main PCB and the display.
- A code keeps returning after the part it points to was replaced.
- Visible damage on the board: burnt relays, swollen capacitors, corrosion.
Safety first: always unplug the appliance and shut off the water (and gas, if any) before you open any panel. If you are not comfortable working with electrical parts, call a qualified technician.
Finding the right Samsung board
Samsung washer and dryer boards start with DC92 (for example DC92-01606A). The last letter is the revision: a newer letter usually replaces an older one, but always match the full number on your board or confirm with your model number.
Need a replacement? Search our catalog by the part number on your old board, or browse Samsung control boards. Every board is a genuine OEM part, ships free in the contiguous US and has a 60-day warranty.
